[TURKEY]: Letter "To all socialists and workers of the world" from the SDH

To all socialists and workers of the world

As you all know, a historical uprising in Turkey has been struggling for six weeks against AKP government. Since AKP came to the power, it has mercilessly attacked workers’ rights. As a champion of neoliberalism, AKP has become a tool of imperialist assaultiveness by colloborating with USA since it came to the power. AKP intensified the pressure on democratic rights day by day. Besides thousands of Kurdish activists; socialists, journalists and students have been put in prison in the period of AKP government. In Turkey, mass media is suppressed. As it will be passed on the history, the media bosses cencored the June Days  because of the fear of Erdogan. The hostility of AKP against labour and democracy shows itself in the rudeness of Erdogan. Erdogan, like a dictator, interferes every area of social life from Tv series to the child numbers people should have. AKP and its leader, Erdogan, as a head executive of moderate Islam project, want to make the social life more conservative and they dictate this to all people, Alewites (a different religious sect different from the Sunni majority), women and youth. In bref, as you know it very well, Gezi park went beyond a park and it is, now, a symbol of an uprising against whatever identifies with AKP.

During this demonstrations, six people killed. The brain death of a fourteen years old demonstrator occured. Throughout the demonstrations, because of the extreme police violence, the number of badly wounded people with death risk is fifty two. The people who lost his eye because of the pepper gas capsule and rubber bullet is twelve. Except them, slightly and tolerable wounded people are more than ten thousands.

According to the statictics of Turkey Human Rights Foundation (TİHV), the detainee people all around Turkey are three thousand five hundred and thirteen people during these actions. We should also add that almost all of the one hundred and seven prisoners of uprising are socialist activists. AKP government and its judgement attack socialists who are seen as the most danger for their rulership in this uprising.

Today, the international task is to rise the solidarity with the uprising in Turkey by organising demonstrations against brutal state attack on resisters.
