Workers’ Party (Partido Obrero) won in Salta’s capital

The struggle for a workers’ government in all the province: promote the mobilization for all popular claims, against capitalism, and the workers define the rhythm

Consulted on the results of the November 10° legislative elections in the province of Salta, Juan Marino, leader of Piquetero Revolutionary Tendency (Tendencia Piquetera Revolucionaria – TPR) and of the Coordination Committee in defense of the Left Front, declared that “the election has been historic, because the Workers’ Party (PO) has entered for the first time in the history of the province to the provincial Senate, because it has turned into the first force in Salta’s capital city council opening the path to displacing the government from the council’s presidency, and because it has ratified the possibility not only to win the capital’s mayor in 2015 but also the hole province’s government. The perspective of setting up the first workers’ government in Argentina’s history is more valid than ever. Salta’s experience shows very clearly the pre-revolutionary character of the political situation, given the fact that facing kirchnerism’s disintegration and peronist party’s crisis not only the right-wing makes its way but also the left-wing emerges as a central political factor. The working class and the exploited must know the result of this election to empower themselves and fight to make the left turn itself into an alternative in the power crisis that crosses our country”.

NOW THE LEFT FRONT HAS 4 NATIONAL MPs, 13 PROVINCIAL MPs, 2 PROVINCIAL SENATORS AND 24 COUNCILORS IN ALL THE COUNTRY

Talking about the figures, Marino highlighted that “the election has been exceptional. In the capital, PO conquered a provincial senator, Gabriela Cerrano, with 27,18% of the votes, with 5 points over the gobernor Urtubey’s candidate. In that district, PO’s provincial MPs list achieved 26,74%, almost 10 points over Urtubey’s peronist list, conquering 5 MPs in that category. The most relevant fact is the diference in the election for city council, where PO got 30% with 11 points more than peronism’s list, conquering 9 councilors, placing itself as the first force and with the perspective of achieving the presidency. However, PO’s development doesn’t limit itself to the capital but has a provincial extension, what can be seen in the fact that it has entered the city councils of Colonia Santa Rosa, Hipólito Yrigoyen, Orán, Tartagal, Mosconi, San Lorenzo, Metan and Cerillos. As a whole, PO went from 11% in the capital in 2011 to a 30% in 2013, a growth of 200%. Finally, it’s necessary to integrate these results to the Left Front’s in 2011 and 2013, to show FIT’s national development, which after Salta’s elections has 4 national MPs, 13 provincial MPs in 7 provinces, 2 provincial senators, one in Salta and one in Mendoza, and 24 councilors. As the TPR said facing october’s elections, this electoral performance of the Left Front shows that the workers and socialist alternative before the collapse of the pseudo-nationalist Kirchners’ government is in full development”.

PO’s MPs MUST WORK WITH OPEN AND REGULAR ASSEMBLIES TO DEEPEN THE MOBILIZATION FOR POPULAR CLAIMS, AGAINST CAPITALISTS AND FOR THE WORKERS’ GOVERNMENT

To finish, TPR’s leader stated that “now, the perspective es to pave the way to conquer a workers’ government in the province in 2015. The way to achieve this consists in promoting popular mobilization for all the claims, attacking all the capitalists’ interests necessary to accomplish that, and let the workers define the rhythm. In that sense, we salute public declarations from the main PO’s MPs, as Claudio del Plá, Gabriela Cerrano and Arturo Borelli, after the election, because the stated that they will use this conquer to promote the fight to derogate the anti-popular tax hike in the capital, for universal access to unique dwelling taxing real estate speculators and expropriating the 100 hectares from the Pereyra Rozas Succession, in support of the fathers and mothers of children assassinated who fight against the impunity garanteed by the judges designated by the provincial Senate. With that method, Claudio del Plá itself declared that they have the objective of winning the government in 2015, declaring that they can be a power alternative. As TPR we salute this position, and we call to make the MPs conquered by PO in all the province to develop open and regular assemblies to deepen this path of popular mobilization and fight for all popular claims and for a power alternative in Salta”.
