Free Syrian Army cannot expel Al-Assad because it doesn’t want to break up with imperialism (June 5)

Cristina Fernández de Kirchner is Al-Assad’s accomplice

Free Syrian Army cannot expel Al-Assad because it doesn’t want to break up with imperialism

¡Not to Annan Plan! ¡Long live to Syrian Revolution!

The brutal repression of Al-Assad in Houla started a new political international crisis. Through the Annan Plan, the European and Yankee imperialism had reached an agreement with Russia and China’s restorationist bureaucracy to encourage negotiations with Al-Assad, mediated by ceasefire from both the repressive forces of the regime and the opposition militias organized by the Free Syrian Army. The claim of the Annan Plan was the complete disarmament of any armed resistance to Al-Assad. However, Al-Assad continued his brutally repressive policies, which shattered the ceasefire and any policy of negotiation with Syrian opposition.

IMPERIALISM PROMOTES A DEMOCRATIC COUNTER-REVOLUTION TO CRUSH THE POPULAR REBELLION

Against this, Yankee imperialism has strengthened its political pressure to promote a political transition in Syria ending with the departure of Al-Assad from the government. On June 7, Hilary Clinton is going to travel to Turkey to operate in this way. U.S. government’s objective is to reach an agreement with Russian government to carry out a process of democratic counter-revolution inside Syria, using the Syrian National Council as a political epicentre. Until now, Russian government has explicitly supported the genocide Al-Assad: so has systematically done Hugo Chavez himself, who recently greeted Putin's foreign policy in relation to Syria. Cristina, on over thirteen months, has not said a word about it.

Imperialism, therefore, seeks a way out against the popular rebellion and through a negotiation with Al-Assad and his regime. Imperialism seeks to avoid by all means a victory of Syrian Revolution that would be processed by expelling Al-Assad by the popular fight. On the contrary, the “politic transition” promoted by U.S. government aims to crush the huge mobilization that Syrian masses have been starring for months.

FREE SYRIAN ARMY IS A REACTIONARY MILITARY GROUPING MADE BY IMPERIALISM

That’s why imperialism has established the Free Syrian Army. As we denounced in the 6th number of FEL magazine published in March, 2012 “the FSA, which is a reactionary military grouping made by imperialism, especially under Turkish influence, has been formed by deserters from the army of Al-Assad and rebels from the masses. Thus, the FSA proceeds to arm to the popular resistance to transform it into a pawn of imperialism". Without going any further, a whole section of the republicans are struggling for the military strengthening of the FSA by the USA.

Therefore, the Free Syrian Army cannot expel Al-Assad, because they refuse to break up with imperialism, as it emerged as a tool of government of Turkey and, consequently, of the United States against the Syrian people. This means that now the key is to make that Syrian people draw the conclusion that to overthrow the regime they must break up with imperialism; they must promote the independent politic organization of workers and the popular armament.

MORENOIST LEFT ADAPTS ITSELF TO THE FSA AND THE TURKISH GOVERNMENT

The left, however, has hidden the real character of the Free Syrian Army systematically.

The UIT-CI, which argentine section is Socialist Left (Izquierda Socialista), is the main promoter of an international day during this week for Syria, and states that the Free Syrian Army emerged from the own need of the exploited people to face the repression of the army: “Initially, there were peaceful demonstrations that were attacked by the bullets of the dictatorship. Several thousands of soldiers deserted and join the popular rebellion. This allowed a nascent arming and the emergence of the Free Syrian Army” (Syria: No more massacres to people!, UIT-CI, March 2012). In the same vein, UIT-CI don´t denounce at any time pro-imperialist orientation of the ESL.

Worse, the group Internationalist Struggle (Lucha Internacionalista, linked to UIT-CI and summoned the international day) states: “The SNC said that he accepted the peace plan of the UN because once Bashar’s army withdraws to its barracks, the Syrian people will continue protesting peacefully, until Bashar falls. But the SNC don´t say that the peace plan requests the disarming of the Free Syrian Army. (...) Only the struggle of the Syrian people can blow up the peace plan and that is only possible by calling on the armed struggle of the masses against the regime, an armed struggle very hard and long-range, as it was Vietnam or Nicaragua, and that is what everybody wants to avoid” (Supplement of Internationalist Struggle, April 2012). Internationalist Struggle deliberately hides that the FSA itself accepted the Annan Plan and the ceasefire until a few days ago (when Yankee imperialism regained the initiative for a democratizing replacement). And saying that "everyone wants to avoid an armed struggle very hard" and at the same time that the Annan Plan calls for "to disarm the FSA" Internationalist Struggle is identifying the armed struggle of the masses with the action of FSA directed by the government of Turkey. Therefore, both UIT-CI and Internationalist Struggle don´t denounce the FSA or call on their popular base to break up with imperialism and to promote the popular arming. In this way, they are tributaries to option of a democratizing and militaristic replacement of imperialism inside Syria.

In the same vein has positioned the group Workers Democracy (Democracia Obrera), which has joined the demonstration called on in Argentina as part of an international campaign led by UIT-CI and other organizations. All its left verbiage consists in demanding from every single popular organization in the world that they must send medicines and weapons to Syrian people. But this practical solidarity with the Syrian people must be part of a revolutionary political proposal in its whole, and also be associated with the answer to the question of who distributes what has been collected inside the Syrian territory and with what objective. However, Democracia Obrera does not name the FSA in any of their publications about Syria’s rebellion and, on the contrary, suggest the formation of “a provisional revolutionary government of the militia, the labour organizations, the poor peasants and Committees of soldiers”...  when most of the militias are organized by the FSA! So, Democracia Obrera claims loudly the formation of a government with imperialism, Turkey and “the labour organizations, the poor peasants and Committees of soldiers”. And, practically, as the FSA is who organizes the militias, the FSA would be responsible of distributing all collected in the solidarity campaign proposed by Democracia Obrera. A real ridiculousness.

AS WITH FALKLANDS, THE SUBWAY AND FUBA, THE LEFT AND WORKERS FRONT (FRENTE DE IZQUIERDA) IS AGAIN BROKEN. THIS TIME, IN FRONT OF THE SYRIAN REVOLUTION

The Left and Workers Front (Frente de Izquierda from Argentina) is broken again, this time in front of the Syrian revolution. While IS (Izquierda Socialista) is adapted to imperialism, PTS has maintained a completely abstentionist position: it critics Socialist Left because of its democratizing position, adapted to imperialism, but it doesn´t say a word about FSA and doesn´t propose any course of action to promote the victory of Arab revolution. PO (Partido Obrero – CRFI), which has been the only party of the Left and Workers Front that critics the FSA because of its relationship with the Turkish government, has not propose any kind of political and practical struggle, both national and international via the CRFI, in support of the Arab revolution.

DEFEND THE ARAB REVOLUTION. TO EXPEL AL-ASSAD, THE LOCAL CORDINATION COMMITEES AND THE POPULAR BASE OF THE FSA HAVE TO BREAK UP WITH IMPERIALISM

The way to overcome the pro-imperialist adaptation inside the left is not via the paralysis but via a political struggle pointing a strong anti-imperialist orientation towards the Syrian revolution. For this reason, from the TPR we call all fighters to break up with any democratizing, pro-imperialist and abstentionist pose, and to develop an international campaign involving talks and public meetings stating that to defend the Arab revolution, we must expel Al-Assad. And, to expel Al-Assad, the local coordination committees and the popular base of the FSA have to break up with imperialism.

With this idea, since the Revolutionary Piquetero Tendency (Tendencia Piquetera Revolucionaria – TPR) we are convoking a meeting next Friday 8 June at 18hs in Paso 793- Bs. As. City. At the same time, we call on all organizations that are convoking the demonstration to the Syrian Embassy on Thursday 7, to promote the journey saying: Stop the slaughter against the Syrian people! Cristina is an accomplice of al-Assad! Out with Al-Assad! Free Syrian Army cannot expel Al-Assad does not want to break with imperialism! No to the Annan Plan! Long live the Revolution in Syria, in Middle East and in North Africa!
