CRISTINA, THE RIGHT AND THE FAP CELEBRATE A POPE WHO IS HOMOPHOBIC, AGAINST ABORTION AND WAS COLABORATOR OF VIDELA´S DICTATORSHIP

The designation of Jorge Bergoglio as the new Pope was quite celebrated by Cristina Fernandez [Kirchner, TN], the right and the FAP. Cristina, in a letter sent immediately after he was elected, wrote that “in my name, on behalf of the Argentinian government and representing the people of our country, I want to salute and congratulate you”. After that, she stated that “today is an historical day, and I want to point it out: for the first time in two thousand years, there will be a Latin-American Pope” (Día a Día, March 14^th). Macri said that the designation “will set a course to a promissory future for Argentinian people” (La Nación, 14/03). In the same line, “the leader of Socialist Party, Hermes Binner, congratulates the Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio on being ´the first Argentinian Pope´ and he characterized him as a ´man of dialogue´” (Gaceta Mercantil, March 13^th). The new Pope was also celebrated by Ricardo Alfonsín, who “said he was ´moved and happy as catholic´” (Ibidem), and Elisa Carrió, who “celebrated the election of the new Pope and consider it ´the sign of different times coming´ for Argentina” (La Nación, March 14^th).

THE NATIONALIST, THE CENTER-LEFT AND THE TRADE UNION BUREAUCRACY JOIN THE “CLAMOUR OPERATIVE” ON FAVOUR OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH

These declarations show the completely subjection of the capitalist parties to the Catholic Church, the same Church that, according to the leader of Abuelas de Plaza de Mayo, Estela de Carloto (kirchnerist), “darkened the history of this country” (Clarín, March 15^th). The center-left and the trade union bureaucracy decided to join this “clamour operative” on favour of Bergoglio. “Fernando ´Pino´ Solanas (major leadership of Proyecto Sur, where MST and PCR are integrated, RN) said that ´the new Pope is a remarkable person of the Church, because of his large knowledge and balance” (InfoSur, March 13^th). Facundo Moyano, son of the leader of the CGT opposite to Cristina, said he was “really touched as catholic and Latin-American when he heard that the first non-European Pope in 2000 years would be Argentinian” (Perfil, March 13^th). In the same line, “The CGT Azopardo, leaded by Hugo Moyano, also expressed ´lot of emotion´ because of the election of the Argentinian Cardinal as Supreme Pontiff” (Terra, March 13^th). Pérez Esquivel, leader of SERPAJ, tried to save the face of Bergoglio saying that “there were no links with dictatorship” (Clarín, March 14^th). Emilio Pérsico, leader of the Movimiento Evita, declared that “Bergoglio is peronist, is a comrade” (Movimiento Evita, March 14^th). “The leader of Libres del Sur, Humberto Tumini, said that he is looking forward the new Pope achieve to construes the new times and contributes to pull out the church from its lasts medieval features” (Terra, March 13^th).

Latin-American nationalists adopt the same attitude. Nicolás Maduro said that “the recently deceased Venezuelan ex-president, Hugo Chávez, may influenced from the sky to have this Wednesday, for the first time in history, a Latin-American Pope, the Argentinian Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio” (La Nación, March 14^th). Correa said that the designation “´is something historical and a good new´ to the region” (El Comercio, March 15^th). Also, the president Evo Morales congratulated, through a missive, the Pope Francisco on being the first Latin-American Pontiff to be in charge of the Catholic Church and he expressed the aim of his government to maintain and reinforce the relations with the Holy See in the framework of mutual respect to life, to dignity of the peoples”. (Correo del Sur, March 15^th).

LET’S ORGANIZE A BIG DEMOSTRATION TO SHOW ARGENTINIAN PEOPLE REPUDIATES BERGOGLIO

All these declarations show the disgusting decomposition which characterizes the capitalist parties in Argentina and the center-left parties and the bureaucrats who all the time reinforces their tendency to integrate Cristina, the right and the FAP. They didn´t have any problem in defending a leader of the Church who express publicly his homophobia, his strong opposition to abortion and who collaborated with the last military dictatorship.

The left and the fighters have to express strongly our repudiation to Bergoglio. His designation only can lead to a reinforcement of the reactionary tendencies in our country. The FEL and the TPR proposed in the Encuentro Memoria Verdad y Justicia [committee that coordinates more than 150 popular, left and trade-union organizations, TN] to organize a massive demonstration to the Cathedral in Buenos Aires, Córdoba and every province to show this reject. We make also this proposal to all the organizations and women movements that fight for the legalization of abortion and against misogyny; to all the organizations and movements that fight for the rights of the LGBTIQ community; to all the Human Rights organizations that fight for trial and punishment to all the mass murderers of dictatorship. Let´s go to the streets to show Argentinian people repudiate Bergoglio.

THE DARK PAST OF THE POPE FRANCISCO I - BERGOLGIO

HE STARTED HIS MILITANCY IN “GUARDIA DE HIERRO” (IRON GUARD), THE RIGHT-WING OF PERONISM

Bergoglio started his political militancy in 1972 in “Guardia de Hierro”, “the powerful organization that later on intervene in the appropriation of the goods of disappeared people. Guardia de Hierro was in those times the best cadres school of the right-wing of peronism. Its leader, Alejandro el Gallego [nickname, TN] Álvarez, was in charge of 15 thousand militants educated under a strict discipline and indoctrinated by ultramontane orthodoxy. The organization officially auto-dissolve in 1974, but continue acting and –thank to the good work of Bergoglio, among others-, had an excellent relation with Massera [part of the first government of the last dictatorship, TN]. In the 31^st of July of 1973, Bergoglio was elected for provincial, which is the major position in the Jesus Company hierarchy, an order characterized by the quasi-military obedience and discipline. An intelligence report of the SIDE [Argentinian Intelligence Agency, TN] specialized on following ecclesiastical issues at the time –which is in the Chancellor archive- states that Bergoglio wanted to clean the Company of ´left-wing Jesuits´” (InfoNews, October 14^th 2010).

HE COLABORATED WITH THE DISAPPARITION OF PRIESTS FOR THE THIRD WORLD

“The leader of Abuelas de Plaza de Mayo, Estela de Carlotto, accused the brand-new Pontiff of having ´collaborated with the betrayal of two priest´ of the Jesus Company, while he was part of its leadership in the last military dictatorship” (La Razón, March 15^th). Carlotto refers to “Orlando Yorio, who denounced Bergoglio as the responsible for his kidnapping and the tortures he suffered during five months in 1976” (Página 12, March 14^th). “According to a document obtained by Horacio Verbitsky for his book ´The Silent´ and published in social networks by the Chilean historian Sergio Grez, Bergoglio had personally accused Jalics of ´dissolving activity in women religious Congregations (disobedience conflict) ´ to a henchman whose last name was Orcoyen. The report says that priest Jalics was ´detained in the Mechanical School of the Army from the 24^th of March of 1976 to November 1976 (six months) accused with priest Yorio as suspect of guerrilla contact´. Jalics and Yorio were kidnapped, they were disappeared and they finally were released” (Periodistas en Español, March 14^th).

HE WAS ACCOMPLICE OF CAUGHT OF BABIES IN THE DICTATORSHIP

Against Bergoglio, “the Abuelas de Plaza de Mayo claim in the Argentinian Justice because if his implication in the caught of babies, concretely in the case of the grand-daughter of Alicia de la Cuadra, one of the founding-members of that association” (Periodistas en Español, March 14^th). Carlotto explains that it is “a family of La Plata, whose pregnant daughter disappeared and there were news about she had had a girl in the fifth police station of La Plata. When they asked Bergoglio, he asked another person and the answer to the family was that ´no more search was needed because the girl is in good hands´” (La Razón, March 15^th)

HE IS AN ENEMY OF THE RIGHTS OF WOMEN AND HOMOSEXUALS

Bergoglio “is an historical and staunch opponent of the gay marriage and legal abortion. While the parliamentary debate about the project that legalize gay marriage was developed, Bergoglio published a letter repudiating it addressed to the four monasteries of Buenos Aires: ´Don’t be naïve: it is not about a simple political struggle; it´s a destructive pretension to God´s plan´ (…) His approach towards abortion is an all-cases reject, even in violation” (La Nación, March 14^th).
